(July 20) This week I’m hosting three church leaders from Wyoming, (Here you see them meeting the woman in the top right, who is a social worker for Syrian & Iraqi refugees). Probably one of the more important things that Elmarie and I do in the Middle East is host small groups of people visiting here from the US. They are usually from Presbyterian churches, often very small ones, and while sometimes they are big honchos with impressive titles, usually they are normal pastors and congregation members who want to grow a relationship with people in the Middle East. They visit churches and humanitarian programs in Lebanon, Syria and Iraq, eat the food, hear the stories of the people, and grow their understanding. They fall in love with the folks of the Middle East–then go back to the US and tell the stories.
