Faces of the Syrian War
Our first night in Syria was spent in the Western region around Yezdiah, a relatively safe area where many displaced Syrian families have found refuge. The Presbyterian Church there works tirelessly to help these families with the necessities of life they need to survive.
In the evening, a group of displaced families from places like Aleppo, Idlib and Homs gathered to share their stories:
A mother whose husband was captured while fighting ISIS/Daesh.
To this day, she does not know what has happened to him.
His message to the group was “I encourage all of our young people to not leave for other countries. Stay in Syria and create a future for our wonderful country.”
