Head’s Up, 3/4/17
Hard to believe we’re already into March. Our life-rhythm is a bit crazy these days:
—Elmarie is slowly but surely recovering from her emergency gall bladder surgery
—in Feb. we hosted a team from Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church to visit Lebanon and Syria
—Elmarie took the team back to Lebanon while I stayed in Syria an extra week to visit MECC projects in Damascus, then spend a few Days in Yezdiah to preach at some of the surrounding churches.
At the end of March we will host a group of leaders from the PC(USA) Louisville leadership.
Our hope is to spend some time in Iraq this Spring, but we’re playing it all by ear. I canceled my Fall visit after the Mosul operation was announced, and now the US Muslim Ban (plus our President’s comment about stealing Iraqi oil) has us waiting for the situation to improve a bit. If Iraq is removed from the list as rumored, we’ll try to go ahead with our Spring visit.
Elmarie and I are still planning to be in the US for about four months this Summer/Fall. Every two years or so we do an extended “Itineration” where we travel the US and visit our various Church Partners. These plans always evolve, but right now we expect to arrive early July and stay through early October.
