WE’VE GOT OUR VISAS!!
After weeks of concern and prayer and visits to the General Security Building, we have official clearance for another year in Lebanon.
I am not taking this privilege for granted.
The Lebanese government and people have been gracious hosts to me and Elmarie.
I also am deeply grateful to our official hosts, the National Evangelical Synod of Syria and Lebanon and Supreme Council, who have a healthy and respected relationship with the government. The credibility that Elmarie and I have because of them vouching for us is our lifeline. I know Americans here who have not been as fortunate.
I’m learning that here, community and relationship is everything.
Even after getting our visas approved, getting them in our hands was proving impossible (the huge task of processing Syrian visas has created a giant backlog) and today it was looking like Elmarie would have to postpone tomorrow’s flight to London (it’s tough to return with no visa or passport).
Fortunately, we have a Friend who “knows a guy” and took the morning off to take us through the offices and literally get staff to unlock drawers they insisted could not be unlocked.
Elmarie and I are so grateful to be living in the warm heart of Lebanon.
